How to measure a Bullet Lock

Bullet locks are found on roller shutter doors, they are used with a bullet lock housing that is welded to the outer edge of the shutter guide rail.  Bullet locks are normally found in pairs with a single lock attached to each side of the roller shutter door.  For ease of use these locks are typically supplied keyed alike, with one key operating a number of bullet locks, this reduces the number of keys required when unlocking a shutter.

Bullet locks are available in a few different shapes and sizes.  When replacing locks it is essential to order the correct product, otherwise the new bullet may not fit into the existing housing. To correctly measure a bullet lock please follow these simple guidelines and video.

  1. Place lock on flat surface
  2. Measure Length of Pin
  3. Measure Length of Lock Body
  4. Measure overall lock length

Lock shape also needs consideration when replacing like for like, bullet locks either have an oval body, a round body or a square body with round face.
