D&D Technologies offer this excellent top pull gate lock with key lock option which can be fitted to any type of metal or timber gate.  The MagnaLatch Series 2 MLTPS2RB is very simple to install and can easily be adjusted horizontally and vertically during and after fitting.  This gate lock is made with child safety in mind, the top release of the latch is high enough to be out of reach of children, when the gate closes, the latch is magnetically pulled into place to make sure the gate is held shut at all times and has been open and closed tested 400,000 times.
