Rim Cylinder Fitting and Removal Instructions

Nighlatches operate with a Rim Cylinder on the outside, often these need to be changed if they become faulty or moving to a new property.  The method below shows the easy steps to replace a standard rim cylinder.

1 – Open the door and wedge open to stop the door from accidentally closing.

2 – Remove internal lock case from door, screws are found either on edge of lock case or back.

3 – Once removed you will find 2 cylinder retaining screws, these will be level with external cylinder and horizontal to each other.

4 – Once the screws have been removed the rim cylinder on the outside can be withdrawn.

5 - The tail bar connected to the new cylinder has to be adjusted to size, measure the old for reference then using a pair or pliers of grips snap to size.

6 – Fitting of new cylinder is reverse of removal.
