Horizontal Mortice Locks
As name suggests this is a horizontal lock, that sits deeper into the door than normal dead or sashlocks. A horizontal mortice lock allows the key and lever handle or knob to be at the same height, this reduces the risk of catching a finger in the door when closing. Horizontal mortice locks were more common before the introduction of the lever handles. Horizontal Locks are available from Chubb and Union Locks with a Brass and Satin finish.
