Chubb Lock are changing. Welcome to the future

What is happening?
For almost 200 years Chubb has been the name behind products customers know and trust, but in August 2010 that name will have to change.
Chubb will continue to offer exactly the same products customers know and trust, but we will no longer be able to offer them under the Chubb name. Instead they will continue to be available under one of the other prestigious brands, Union and Yale which have a history and strong reputation within the secondary security and locking markets. Why is it happening?Although Chubb has been the name on locks for so long, the brand is actually owned by an American multi-national and sold under a licence that runs out in August 2010.
Chubb would like to have continued with the name, but unfortunately they have decided not to extend the licence. What does this mean for customers? For Chubb Locks customers nothing will change except the name. You will still be able to buy the Chubb Lock products you know and trust from Locktrader. The product will be completely unchanged — other than the logo that appears on the box and the product. Locktrader will continue to offer Chubb Locks branded products for some time while our existing stocks last. So who will produce Chubb Branded Locks?Nobody will. The licence prevents anyone else from manufacturing or distributing locks under the Chubb name anywhere in the world, and Chubb patents and trademarks stop any competitor copying chubb products. What should I do now?Carry on as normal!
But remember although Chubb Locks are changing, please be assured that Chubb products will continue to be available and will be inherited by other most trusted brands, Union and Yale both of which have history and strong reputations within the locking market.
